Salem is an extreme metal band from Israel, pioneers of the oriental metal movement and of the Israeli heavy metal scene. Much of their lyrics and music deals with political issues concerning the Jewish people and Israel with their music being a combination of doom/death metal with oriental elements and high-pitched screaming-vocals. The band was formed in 1985 along with the newly born extreme metal scene and soon released 2 demo tapes - "Salem" (1986) and "Destruction till Death" (1987).
