When you’re gone, back where you belong The metal turns to rust, like springtime without lust When you left, back to the other side The context disappeared, like sorrow without tears We were speared, pounded, shot and remained We were washed away in the rain Never promise, never promise again When you left it cracked the things we’d made The promise in between like an image no one’s seen When you’re gone back on the other shore My words are trapped in fear, like whispers you don’t hear We were speared, pounded, shot and remained We were washed away in the rain No, never promise, never promise We were speared, pounded, shot and remained We were washed away in the rain I will promise, guess I’ll promise………..someday
