"This is an Al Bloch song. It was kind of a depressing story about a white-trash life with no way out. But this kid in the story is fighting his way out. And I reinterpreted it as, anybody can do that, get out of any situation. "Shinin' Down" sounds almost like you're talking about God, but it's any kind of inspiration.
